Job Title: Center Assistant (full-time: 9 months position)        

Department: Head Start

Location: Pokagon Band Head Start

Job Summary:

Assist Teachers with development and implementation of lesson plans and caring for the children ages 3-5.  Responsible for ensuring Early Head Start policies, procedures, goals and objectives are followed and met.  Must attend to the appropriate needs of the children including meals, diaper changes and outdoor activities.    Ride the bus route, maintain orderliness, and assist children safely on and off the bus.    Maintain attendance records and other detailed records.  Provide and maintain a neat and orderly classroom.  Ensure the safety and well being of children at all times. 

Job Specifications:

High School diploma required; Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) preferred.  Must be in good physical health as determined by a physician.  Previous experience in a preschool setting preferred.  Operational knowledge of appropriate and acceptable discipline for children required.  Must enjoy working with children and be of high moral character.  Must successfully pass criminal history and Child Protective Services background check.  Preference given to qualified Native Americans.
