Wiikwedong Collaborative presents 4th Annual Children's Water Walk April 30, 2025 10:30 am The walk will begin at the walking trail along the beach behind the Tribal Police offices. The route will take walkers to the restoration trail behind the pow-wow grounds. Upon arrival, transportation will be provided to the pow-wow grounds for the lunchon. Grand Island National Recreation Area Visitor Use Management Plan Tribal Engagement Meeting April 30, 5 - 7:30 pm Alger Parks and Recreation Department 413 Maple Street Munising, MI 49862 You are invited to attend and share your perspective U.S. Forest Service Staff invite you to participate in the development of a Visitor Use Management Plan to assess current conditions and future opportunities for a vision and management strategies on the island. Join the conversation to learn about this process and share your thoughts during this Tribal Engagement Meeting. Background Information In the last thirty or so years, public visitation at Grand Island has increased from 2,000 people per year to around 20,000 people per year. This uptick in public visitation has highlighted the complexity of management considerations on the island.
