Job Summary:

Provide support to a statewide initiative to advance energy code adoption, training, and compliance among Michigan’s Native Nations. This position will lead outreach and engagement with Tribal governments, assist in developing technical resources and training materials, and coordinate advisory committee activities to support the adoption of energy-efficient building standards. The ideal candidate will bring technical knowledge of building codes, strong project coordination skills, and a commitment to working in partnership with Indigenous communities to support long-term energy resilience and climate goals.

Job Specifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as architecture, engineering, building science, or environmental policy preferred. Three years of experience in building codes, energy efficiency, or Tribal environmental programs preferred. Familiarity with model energy codes (e.g., IECC, ASHRAE), strong communication skills, and experience working with Tribal Nations or Indigenous communities are essential. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel overnight are required. Additional preferred qualifications include experience with federal grants, curriculum development, and knowledge of Tribal governance and clean energy policy. Preference given to qualified Native Americans.

Salary: $63,918 – $69,035
